Cllr Niall Kelleher, has warmly welcomed the confirmation that the Public Service Obligation contract on the Kerry Dublin route will be maintained. The subsidised Kerry Dublin flight is now secure until 2017. This follows an announcement by the Department of Transport.
“The news has been greeted with relief across the county. It is a great boost for business and tourism alike in Kerry. Kerry Airport is an integral part of the infrastructure in our County and it is essential that Kerry maintains a quality airport with a comprehensive and sustainable flight network. The Kerry Dublin flight is an essential part of this network placing Dublin within commutable distance for business in the region.” said Cllr Kelleher. The Kerry Dublin route has proved to be an invaluable asset for businesses in Kerry particularly in tending for conferences and other major national and international events. The spin off from these events is wide ranging, creating employment and encouraging further investment in the area.
“I congratulate Stobart Air on their success in securing the contract, and I wish them well with their two daily flights” concluded Cllr Kelleher.
